In Celebration of the Life of Patricia Pocock Posted: Fri, Sep 25th 2020 |
It is with heavy hearts we send this message to you. Patricia Pocock, RN, of London, Ontario passed away September 19th, 2020. Pat was 80 years old. A quiet change agent, Pat was a steadfast member and contributor to ORNAC. Pat was instrumental, along with her colleague Muriel Shewchuk, in the creation of the Canadian Operating Room Leaders group (CORL) and subsequently bringing this group to the ORNAC Board table. This seat, first created by Pat and Muriel, is called Leadership and describes Pat well as she was a leader in so many ways. She was a senior OR manager, Department head, Director in her practice at St. Joseph’s Hospital, London, Ontario. She was a leader with the CORL group. She was a leader with ORNAC, on the board as co-chair of Advocacy/Governance and moved the organization through its incorporation phase. She was a leader who always saw the good to be achieved in change, and the good in the people who would be required to make those changes. The nursing community has lost a great lady, perioperative nurse and friend. We mourn her loss and send our sincerest condolences to her husband and family. Thank you Pat for the privilege of your presence in so much of our work. We will miss you. |

In Celebration of the Life of Muriel Shewchuk Posted: Sat, May 13th 2017 |
![]() Muriel was a founding member and original Co-Chair of CORL and represented CORL on the ORNAC board for several years. She was an outstanding Educator, Administrator and Mentor. She has always had the very best interests of Perioperative Nursing and Perioperative Leadership as one of her core drivers and has over the years contributed to their wellbeing in multiple ways and venues. We were delighted to see Muriel when she attended the recent ORNAC National Conference 2017 in Niagara Falls and hear her share some of her history with ORNAC. She was thoroughly enjoying time with her many friends and colleagues at the numerous events and celebrations and that is how we remember and honour her. The CORL team is also so proud to call her "one of our most accomplished members". We will miss her passion and spirit. Thank-you Muriel for everything, we miss you and the entire CORL Network sends their heartfelt condolences to your family and friends... We trust “that nothing good of Muriel’s life will be lost, but will be of benefit to the world; that all that was important to her and everything in which she was great will be respected and mean much to those in the future” |
